The Scottish summer is upon us and it looks like Perthshire might see a spot of good weather over the next few months. It’s now the perfect time to invite all of your family and friends round and host a Friday night fiesta in the back garden. Summer isn't complete without a few evenings spent with your nearest and dearest enjoying good food, good company and good chat.
“One cannot think well, love well and sleep well if one has not dined well.”
1. The Food
The best way to keep everyone happy at a family gathering is by providing lots and lots of fantastic food. You could even write up a little shopping list so everyone coming over can pick something on their way! A great place to get your main BBQ meal in Perthshire is at Simon Howie in Perth city centre or Auchterarder. You’ll be able to get fresh, locally-sourced meat in the form of sausages, haggis, burgers and jumbo sausages. They also offer Vegetarian haggis and square sausages - everyone is happy!

After people start to arrive, you could offer a spread of delicious fresh fruit from local grocers Martin’s Fruit Bazaar. You can grab a fresh fruit box for £10, slice it up and share it as a wee starter before the main event. Fresh fruit and summer go hand in hand - right?! It's also handy to have lots of fresh fruit for those Gins that you'll be making later on...
A summer fiesta wouldn’t be right without something a little sweet. Finish off with a few goodies from one of Perthshire’s most loved bakeries, Tower Bakery. The Tower Bakery has 8 shops throughout Perthshire and will be able to supply your friends and family with delicious goodies to keep them full until the late hours of the day.
2. Drinks
Perth has several excellent breweries and distilleries in the local area. As well as shops that stock an abundance of local drinks for you to try. You’ll not be stuck for choice when filling up that cooler for your party night.

Drop into Provender Brown on George Street and pick up a bottle of their Perth Gin. A small batch of handcrafted gin made especially for our fair city! Whilst you're there you can stock up on cheese and deli goods - just in case you haven’t picked up enough food. It's also a great excuse to use up any extra fruit left from your fruit box!
You can pick up your local ciders and wine from Cairn ‘O’ Mohr which you can purchase online, from their shop or from one of their local stockists. Cairn ‘O’ Mohr boast gorgeous fruity wines and bottled ciders for all tastes. They also have award winning alcohol-free bottles, so you’ll be prepared knowing you’ve catered for everyone!
3. BBQ & Garden Accessories
We might be slightly biased here, but we would suggest getting your all important BBQ & Garden accessories from our sister store Quince Living.
You’ll be able to buy everything from your crockery, new cups to a few games for when it’s
time to come inside.
A spot of decoration would definitely put an extra kick into the gathering, we are loving these Festoon Lights. These will leave you with a soft lighting outside when it gets dark, perfect for when the kids are asleep and the adults need a spot of downtime.
4. The BBQ
No summer fiesta, outdoor hootenanny or family garden gathering is complete without a BBQ. Here at Heatworks Stove & Cooker Centre we don’t just stock range cookers, mantels and stoves. We also have your BBQ needs sorted as well.
Everdure by Heston Blumenthal is a range of barbeques like no other. Heston embarked on a mission to create the perfect modern barbeque. From quick-starting charcoal, to the convenience of gas, they’ve each been designed from the ground up, and will change the way you think about barbequed food, forever.
Kadai Firebowls make for a unique addition to your garden, choose to cook on them or use them as an outdoor fire pit for that cosy campfire feeling. Each Kadai is crafted from recycled oil drums and there are many cooking accessories available to compliment.
You'll be able to purchase either of these BBQ's by popping in to our showroom on Ruthvenfield Rd, Perth PH1 3EE. You can also purchase a Kadai Bowl from the Quince Living store.
Now you’re ready to get the invites out to family and friends and show off your knowledge and love for local Perthshire produce. A full stomach, outdoor games, drinks - now all you need is for the sun to stay out...
Enjoy!
